Dizengoff Center - The Construction of a Shopping Mall

Process photography plays an important role in the construction of public buildings. It documents history, is a tool for engineers and planners

and is also used for insurance purposes in the event of delays or building flaws.

Dizengoff Center, the first shopping mall in Israel, was built in the heart of Tel Aviv in the 1970s, by the developer/contractor Arieh Pilz and

his son Avraham Pilz. The chief architect was Aliza Toledo.

Since it was an historical first, the contractor realized the importance of recording the development of the project, and in 1974 I was

commissioned to document the different stages of construction.

What you see here is a short timeline of the process plus various other images taken on the site.
